Make your custom hat design readable, wearable, and production-ready.
You do not need perfect artwork to start. This guide shows what to upload, what notes help most, and what we look for before turning a logo, sketch, or idea into a custom hat or patch.
What to upload
Send the best file you have. Vector files are ideal, but a clean high-resolution image often works. If all you have is a sketch or screenshot, upload it and explain the idea.
Ideal artwork files
- AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF logo files
- Large transparent PNG files
- Clean JPG files with strong contrast
- Original artwork instead of screenshots
If your art is rough
A photo, sketch, or low-detail idea can still be useful. Add notes about what matters most: words, shape, brand mark, mascot, initials, or the general vibe.
Patch and embroidery limits
Hats are smaller than signs or shirts. Tiny text, thin lines, gradients, and overly detailed art may need simplification so the finished hat reads clearly.
What makes a strong hat design?
The best custom hats are not always the most detailed. They are the ones people understand at a glance.
Usually works well
- Bold logo marks or initials
- Short business, team, or event names
- Strong dark/light contrast
- Simple animal, ranch, outdoor, or trade icons
- Designs that still read from a few feet away
Usually needs cleanup
- Very small taglines or phone numbers
- Thin script fonts with lots of detail
- Low-resolution screenshots
- Full-color art that depends on tiny gradients
- Complex seals, badges, or photos squeezed onto a patch
